Engineering Inc. magazine – Spotlight on Coalitions column
In a move to more accurately reflect the breadth of its membership and the ACEC member firms it serves, the Coalition of American Mechanical and Electrical Engineers (CAMEE) is being rebranded to the MEP Coalition—the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Coalition.
The change marks a significant step in aligning the coalition with the standard terminology used across the AEC landscape. “The term MEP more accurately represents the full scope of our membership and the ACEC member firms we serve,” said Michelle Kroeger, the director of the coalitions at ACEC. “By adopting this name, we align ourselves with standard industry terminology, making it clearer who we are and what we stand for.”
While the name is changing, the coalition assures members and partners that its core mission remains unchanged: to advocate for and support professionals in the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering fields. The rebrand is expected to strengthen the coalition’s identity, enhance visibility, and improve communication within ACEC and beyond.
A Stronger Identity for ACEC Member Firms
The rebranding effort comes at a time when cross-disciplinary collaboration is increasingly essential in the built environment. By explicitly recognizing all three key disciplines in the MEP acronym, the coalition aims to foster a more inclusive and cohesive professional community for ACEC member firms.
